Journal topic: Being courageous doesn't always have to be physical

Having courage is I guess you could say something humans have it's not exactly an instinct it's more of a personal action? I don't really know but personally i don't see it as an instinct. Courage means different things to everybody, different age groups have a certain goal or something they want to achieve in, for a 3 year old it might be going to the dentist for the first time as being courageous while a 16 year old going on a first date or driving can be courageous.

Everyone has different personalities whether it be extroverts or introverts or somewhere in between. This is sort of a hard journal topic because there is a concrete definition of the word but with different people and personalities it becomes way more vast.

Fighting the voice in your head is courageous and this is where the stigma of mental illness comes in because many people search for the physical ramifications of your illness but do they take the time to fully understand what's on in your head when you reach for that extra slice of pizza? When you speak up in front of the class? Turn away from cigarettes in the back counter of the grocery store? No.

Just because your physical symptoms and urges dwindle doesn't mean mentally you are okay.

If anything it gets stronger but knowing what you're doing is the right thin despite those feelings no matter if it's a mental illness or not, that takes courage.

Mental and physical courage kind of go hand in hand but when you really think about it they're different when it comes to what you have to do to face your fears.
