Why is it so hard to teach ourselves to be gentle to ourselves?

We constantly feel this need to compare ourselves to others. Everyone feels that insecurity at one time in your life which is only human, but you shouldn't let that human instinct take over. One of the reasons why it's difficult to be content with ourselves is because we are so focused on other people when we should be focusing on ourselves. It's hard when you're going through bad times and you're thinking negative thoughts because you don't feel good about yourself. It's important to at least try to think positive by spending time with your friends and looking at things that are positive.

It sounds kind of corny but it's really true because when i was in 8th grade i went on websites like Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and i actually had a Twitter account but it was defenitely not a good thing for me to do because it created a lot of self-destructive actions and thoughts. I followed a lot of eating disorder, depression, self harm accounts and i actually got in contact with a girl behind one of those accounts and it wasn't a good thing at all because tow self-destructive mentally disturbed teenagers to talk about our problems was obviously not a good thing. At the time i just thought that it would make me feel less alone and relate to people who have the same issues as i do.

I deleted every social media account when everything with the mental hospital and in my defense when i was in there my mom kept my phone for the longest time but i obviously got it back and i learned my lesson and I don't have any social media besides Tumblr but i use it responsibly.

There's one example why doing positive things create positivity in your life.

positivity is what brings happiness!
